Duramax brakes locking up

I need to know if the computer has to be reset for the brakes.

How do I get the brakes to release? It is a Silverado Z71 5. All my mechanic type buddies or students told me one of two things.

Contaminated fluid or master cylinder. Tried that, problem still exists, the mechanic is telling me the master cylinder needs to be replaced. Pissed off beyond belief!!!

Stevestruckandauto answered 4 years ago. So have any of you pulled the master cylinder and find the booster is hull of fluid because I'll bet that is the problem. At this point the fluid has ruined the booster so now you have to replace both. I've done about 6 of these so far. I had this problem on my silverado 4wd. Turned out rust had built up where the wheel speed sensor mounts in the side of the hub. There are great youtube videos that guide you step by step in fixing it.

If you get a new sensor be careful. They come with shims factory but an aftermarket one from Advance auto didnt so I put my old ones on and brakes were still sticking.

Took them off and the wheel bearing would hit the sensor. So I ended up using 1 shim instead of both and it works great. Diyguy answered 3 years ago. Rear brakes hanging up on 01 Tahoe. Replaced calipers and hoses. Much better but not totally free. If I start it up and pump the brakes, shut it off. Brakes are dragging. If I pump it a couple times with engine off they free up. Its not an every day thing, and not just after its been sitting a while, its completely random. Happens only at low speed. Pads and shoes are good, everything looks ok in the drums. Sometimes it feels like it takes more pedal effort to stop from speed, then when the speed gets low enough it locks hard enough to get the rear tires to skid on dry pavement. So, where the heck do I start? Anyone else ever have this problem?

I experienced it before on a 2x4 but we didn't do maintnance on it was a GSA vehicle and the shop never did get the problem to go away that I know of. My initial thoughts are something wrong in the front brakes, maybe sticky calipers so more force is required to move them, in turn putting more force to the rears causing the lock.

Only problem with this theorie is when traveling slow it takes so little pedal effort to lock em up. Maybe a preportioning valve problem? I just spent the last hour searching and reading brake threads here, but its possible I missed something, so if its already been adressed please point me in the right direction.

Assuming yea I know what that means that a load sensative valve would be attached to the frame and axle so it could sense ride height like toyota trucks haveI havn't seen one on there.

I dont know of any other way a load sensing valve could work or what it would take refrence from if not the axle to frame seperation. With that said, I dont believe such a valve exists on the ram 's. Dec 17, 9.
